Title: Bird Detection System Based on MIMO Radar

Abstract: MIMO radar system has plenty of advantages in multiple targets detection, high resolution parameters estimation and jammers suppression, which is a good technology for small target detection like birds and UAVs for airport safeguarding. In this talk, the history of bird detection in airport based on radar system is firstly introduced, and the potential superiority of MIMO radar system in the area of bird detection is analyzed. Then, the key technologies of bird detection system based on MIMO radar is investigated, including the orthogonal transmitting waveform design and the joint beampattern synthesis. Finally, a MIMO radar prototype system is designed and developed. Several experiments on both birds and UAVs are conducted to verify the effectiveness and reliability of proposed methods and MIMO radar system.
